I am j. c. chapman, an artist living in Brevard, North Carolina. I  became inspired to produce art when I moved to this beautiful part of the world several years ago. I have become passionate about painting and drawing and have experimented with different media (watercolor, acrylic, pastels,  charcoal,  graphite). I’ve taken classes with local area artists Jim Morrison, Tim Murray, Beverly Kies and especially with my mentor Don Blackwell of Flat Rock NC. I’ve also participated in many art workshops.

While I enjoy working in all these media, my current passions is drawing portraits of humans and animals in graphite, charcoal and pastel. I also do acrylic and white charcoal paintings of our famous and quirky Brevard white squirrels who are such fun and interesting to paint.
